Bret vonKrakau | Brown Belt
Bret has been a student of Jiu Jitsu since 2012 and currently holds a brown belt. Bret also has one year of competition Jiu Jitsu experience that he brings to the mat. His strengths as an instructor has been assisting newcomers who have no previous martial arts experience. As a new comer to martial arts, eight years ago, Bret can relate to a new student and any uncertainties they may have. Drawing from his own personal experience, Bret helps new students adjust and find their footing while placing them on their own path and Jiu Jitsu journey. His achievements have also helped Bret to become a better, well-rounded coach. While training one time or even six times a week, Bret learned to stay focused and patient and to consistently show up and train. With that, came a better way to find balance between his personal/family life and his Jiu Jitsu journey. His experience has now become part of his strengths as a coach, where Bret is patient with himself and his students. “It is important to take a long-view approach to Jiu Jitsu, which I try to point out to new students: be patient and stay the course.” This all pays off for Bret when he sees his new students grasp the fundamentals of Jiu Jitsu and use them as their building blocks. When he is not on the mats, Bret’s life revolves around family. He’s been married for 18 years and has two amazing daughters. Bret also enjoys listening to all kinds of music and going to live music events.
