Eric Rubio | Brown Belt
Eric has trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since 2010 and has one year of competition within that time. He has been an instructor for three years at the Ricardo Barros Academy. Eric brings a positive and upbeat energy to his classes, where his students benefit from a fun and engaging class. Overcoming his fears of public speaking through teaching is something Eric has been very proud of – capturing the attention of his students and creatively transferring information both verbally and physically in a way that helps them understand this gentle art. Upon receiving his purple belt, Eric was invited by Professor Ricardo Barros to begin teaching the Adult Fundamentals class. After a few months of teaching, the way he viewed Jiu Jitsu dramatically changed. Jiu Jitsu started making “sense” in a way to Eric as both student and pupil. Off the mats, Eric enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife and daughter Coraline. He is also a fulltime artist, where he creates art with varying mediums. In addition to art, Eric enjoys music of all genres – from Cuban Guajiro to Gypsy Jazz and everything in between. At the heart of it all, Eric loves being able to teach a subject he is passionate about. “I love seeing brand new students and their growth through Jiu Jitsu, it’s such a fulfilling experience for me”.
